Establishing Deadlines and Procedures for Placing Matters on the Agenda for Regular Board
Meetings
Whereas, members of the Town of Akan Board need adequate time to study agenda items before
they are requested to cote on them; and
Whereas, the public is entitled to know in advance which subjects will be discussed and acted
upon at the Regular Board meetings so that the public can provide or request additional information, arrange for themselves or others to attend Board meetings, and otherwise prepare themselves to express their opinions regarding actions of the Town of Akan Board; and
Whereas, adequate time is required to permit the Board time to prepare and post the agenda as
well as adequate time required to post the agenda on the Town of Akan’s web site; and
Whereas, the Town of Akan Board finds the current procedures need to be revised to allow for
greater efficiency.
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the Town of Akan Board that:
Procedures for placing matters on the agenda for the Town of Akan shall be as follows:
- The Town of Akan, unless otherwise provided in this ordinance, shall place items on the Board
meeting agenda only those items which are timely submitted as follows:
a. The deadline shall be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the Regular Board meeting at which
discussion or action is requested.
b. Items received after the deadline may be placed on the “Additions to the Agenda” if they
are received by 3:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the meeting and if the request is authorized
by a town board member. - No item that is not timely submitted will be place on the agenda except for an Urgent Public
Necessity.
a. Urgent Public Necessity items may be placed on the agenda after the above deadlines
and up until two hours before the Board meeting.
b. This request must be justified through all of the Town of Akan Board members as an
urgent public necessity.
This ordinance takes effect August 13, 2015 and applies to all the placement of matters on the Town of Akan Regular Board meeting agenda for meetings beginning on September 10, 2015.
The town clerk shall properly post or publish this ordinance as required under s. 60.80, Wis. Stats.
